After her boyfriend Jeff forgets her birthday again, Mina breaks up with him for good and drives off in a rage finding herself lost on a darkened road. She unknowingly picks up a hitchhiker who happens to be a vampire looking for a meal on a lonely night. The mysterious Ronin saves Mina and tries desperately not to fall in love with her.

Tremon discovers this blossoming love and decides to use Mina as bait in his trap for Ronin. Part of Tremon's plan is to torture Ronin by making Mina a vampire just as they did to Ronin's wife Gretchen 300 years ago. Is Mina another Gretchen in the making?
